Preparing for ROCm Certified Associate — do the AI Academy courses cover the full path?

Hi everyone,

I am working through the ROCm learning path on AMD AI Academy — currently on the ROCm Orientation, Setup & Containers module and the Instinct Architecture (CDNA/RDNA & MI400) one. I noticed there is a ROCm Certified Associate certification mentioned in the Member Perks program.

A couple of questions from someone newer to the AMD software stack:

1. Do the AI Academy ROCm modules (Orientation, Instinct Architecture, plus the lab-based courses) map directly to the ROCm Certified Associate exam blueprint, or is there additional material I should study on the side?

2. For getting hands-on with an Instinct MI300X via the ROCm containers (ROCm terminal images on Docker Hub), is there a recommended tag to start with for PyTorch + vLLM inference testing?

Any pointers from people who have gone through the certification recently would be appreciated. Thanks!

On the certification: the Associate is itself a course you enroll in on AI Academy, Core ROCm Software Application Development, built around hands-on workshops, with the Credly badge awarded when you complete it. AMD positions the self-paced courses you’re taking as prep before you certify.

For vLLM on MI300X, vLLM now publishes official ROCm images as vllm/vllm-openai-rocm, so start there and pin a release tag rather than latest.
